Mabel Marie Light
My grandmother, Mabel Marie Light, passed away this past Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the age of 86.
She was a blessing in our home and brought joy to every day she was with us.
Mabel Marie (Mema) came to live with my parents in their home after the passing of her husband of 64 years, Victor Light.
She was the mother of six children, Don Light, of Sarasota, Fla., Vicki Light, of Los Angeles, Calif., James Light, of Parrish, Fla., Teresa Crandall (deceased), of Rocky Mount, Va., Loretta Carter, of Woodstock, Ga., and Sheree Enquist, of Rocky Mount, Va. She had 29 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Some of my sweetest memories with her are of us singing and laughing together. She had a lovely voice and was terrific at harmonizing. She loved pretty things and always enjoyed dressing up and looking her best, even if she was just going to be at home all day.
She was one of the most loving people I have ever known, and was always ready to give a smile and kiss to her loved ones.
I feel so privileged to have had these years with her close by and to have been able to receive so much love and grace from her presence.
She will be greatly missed, but still greatly loved.
...Our Sweet Mema...
